Charter a sailboat (captain included) and sail the bay
There is no better way to see San Francisco than from the bay itself. It's super easy to charter a boat and captain - the website we used was GetMyBoat. We had a half day on the water and got to sail under the Bay Bridge and around Angel Island. It can be very windy out there, so dress warm, wear layers, and pack yourself some food & drink to enjoy while you're out there!

Bonfire at Ocean Beach
Bonfire at Ocean Beach
During the months of March through October, Ocean Beach sets up 16 fire pits. Be sure to get there early (before sunset on a weekday) to claim a fire pit. You'll want to bring a few bunches of wood, beach chairs, towels, and snacks to roast over the open fire if you're feeling festive.
One of my other favorite things to do at Ocean Beach is play pickup volleyball. For a more relaxing time, it's a great place to catch the sunset, look for sand dollars.

Kayak in Sausalito
Kayak in Sausalito
While it's not exactly San Francisco, Sausalito is like SF's best friend next door. When you cross the Golden Gate Bridge it's like you're worlds away from the city. Sausalito is one of my favorite places to walk around downtown and grab a coffee or ice cream. Recently, I discovered how fun and perfect of a place Sausalito is for kayaking! We rented from Sea Trek Kayak and had such a nice afternoon kayaking around the Marina there.

SF Giants Baseball Game at Oracle Park
SF Giants Baseball Game at Oracle Park
Baseball fans or not, I highly recommend getting inside Oracle Park for a game! You just can't beat the view over the water. And then there's the food... it's pretty exceptional ball park food, ranging from your staple hotdog to crab cakes.

Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park
Nestled in the middle of Golden Gate Park, San Francisco's Botanical Gardens are not something to write off. It's an extremely large park in itself, you forget that you're inside Golden Gate park. There's plants and flowers from around the world to see, and lots of quiet hidden corners to relax. (SF residents with valid ID get in for free!)
